This week: Festivity Ale
Goose Island Beer Co., Chicago
The downside of the rise of American microbreweries is that they have driven many excellent British and Belgian ales off the shelves. This is even more apparent during the Christmas holiday season.
I used to enjoy perusing the aisles in December and picking out such beers as Delirium Noel, Bad Elf, Lump of Coal, Scaldis Noel, Corsendonk Christmas Ale, Stille Nacht, Affligem Noel and others. I haven't seen these on my area shelves in years. If you're lucky enough to live in a metropolitan area with liquor superstores, you might still be able to find them. They are all worth the search.
